For 20 years, Refuge Church has had a partnership with the Evangelical Baptist Church of central Ukraine. First begun as part of the Love Lift for Ukraine with Converge (then, Baptist General Conference), our sister church relationship with the town of Drabiv has remained strong for years past the completion of the denomination's official partnership.
In the past three years, an exciting new movement of God has sprung up in Zolotonosha (the town from which our Drabiv pastor and his family were sent to church plant years ago). Camp Maximum
, modeled after Trout Lake Camp
in Pine River, MN is thriving and drawing young people from all over the country of Ukraine, some even from nearby countries.
One of the dynamic young directors of Camp Maximum, Yura Fedoryuk
, is the son of our Drabiv pastor, so we maintain a strong connection with this camp as well as our sister church that his mom and dad lead in Drabiv.
June 23-July 14 - A group of 9 from Refuge Church and the Willmar area will join the staff of Camp Maximum for staff training and two weeks of English Camps. We will serve as support staff, language models, and a fun relational presence in the lives of the young people attending the camps.
July 21-Aug 4 - A different group of 9 from Refuge Church will host our 20th Anniversary youth camps (5-18 yrs old) in Drabiv at our sister church. Through the generous sponsorship of Refuge Church donors, we will then accompany 30 youth (ages 11-18) from the small town of Drabiv (and nearby Veliky Hutyer) for a week of European Summer Camp at Camp Maximum where the will have fun, fellowship, spiritual challenge and a chance to meet other youth from area churches.
